Development Engineer (m/f/d) – Expert in Mechanical Design and Development
About Us:
AdaptX Systems is a Berlin-based startup that is making industrial manufacturing more sustainable and efficient. We develop innovative cooling solutions for machine tools, replacing traditional methods such as flood cooling or oil lubrication. Our retrofit systems combine mechanical design, thermodynamics, electronics, and software into one integrated product. Together with leading industrial partners, we are shaping the future of manufacturing—resource-efficient, high-performance, and intelligent.
Your Role:
As a Development Engineer (m/f/d), you will be a key member of our engineering team. You will be responsible for the mechanical development of our systems and their integration into a wide range of machine tool types. You will work at the interface between product development, testing, supplier coordination, and industrialization. In close collaboration with our electronics and software teams, you will take our solution from idea to manufacturing.
We’re not looking for a narrow specialist—we’re looking for a versatile engineer with a holistic perspective. You move confidently between concept, design, implementation, and technical communication, have an interest in adjacent disciplines, and find creative, pragmatic solutions.
Your Responsibilities:
As a Development Engineer, you will take responsibility for the further development and industrialization of our system. Your tasks include:
- Mechanical Design and Development:
- CAD design (e.g., enclosures, interfaces, brackets, heat sinks)
- Development of prototypes, test setups, and small series solutions
- Interface and System Development:
- Planning the integration of our solutions into various machine tool types
- Coordination and integration of interfaces with system technology
- Testing and Validation:
- Setting up and executing tests on internal test benches and at customer sites
- Analyzing and optimizing mechanical, thermal, and functional properties
- Reporting and data analysis
- Technical documentation
- Preparation:
- Drawings, bills of materials, assembly instructions
- Supporting supplier, manufacturing partner, and material selection
- Coordination with electronics and software development
- Production Support and Partner Collaboration:
- Technical support of suppliers, quality assurance, and continuous improvement along the supply chain
- Close coordination with production partners for prototype and series implementation
Your Profile:
- Degree or technical training in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or similar
- Solid experience in CAD (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Inventor, or similar)
- Knowledge in fluidics/thermodynamics
- Hands-on mentality
- Optional: experience with control/interface technology, retrofit solutions, or machine tools
- Very good German and good English skills
What We Offer:
- Creative Freedom: Be involved from the start and actively shape our product
- Purpose & Impact: Your engineering delivers measurable environmental and industrial efficiency benefits
- Startup Environment: Flat hierarchies, fast pace, no bureaucracy
